Inquiry into students' familiarity with computer-assisted translation tools

Acquiring knowledge of computer-assisted translation (CAT) technology is the basic requirement not only for students but also professional translators to have good use CAT tools. The present study aimed investigate degree MA students’ familiarity with tools used support CAT-related activities included in translator’s workstation. To do so, a questionnaire consisting 16 questions was prepared data collection based on proposed by Fulford and Granell-Zafar. This includes document production activities, business management creation activities. As results indicated, were mainly familiar general-purpose applications, such as word processing software machine translations, rarely specific-purpose software, namely web publishing accounting packages.
